How to Create a WordPress Staging Site

A staging site is a private copy of your live site where you can try updates, themes or new plugins without any risk to visitors.

  1. 1

    Open WordPress Manager

In cPanel, open WordPress Manager by Softaculous and find your site.

  2. 2

    Create staging

Click Staging, choose a subdomain or folder (e.g. staging.yourdomain.com) and create the copy.

  3. 3

    Make your changes

Log in to the staging site and test updates, design or plugins there.

  4. 4

    Push to live

When happy, use Push to Live to copy the changes back to your real site.

Tip: Always run risky changes on staging first — it can save hours of downtime.
