How to Upload Files via File Manager & FTP

You can upload your website files straight from the browser with cPanel's File Manager, or use an FTP client like FileZilla for larger sites.

  1. 1

Option A — cPanel File Manager

Open File Manager, go into public_html, click Upload, and select your files. This is great for a few files.

  2. 2

    Unzip large uploads

Upload a single .zip, then right-click it in File Manager and choose Extract — much faster than uploading many files.

  3. 3

Option B — create an FTP account

For bigger sites, go to cPanel → FTP Accounts and create one (or use your main account's FTP login).

  4. 4

    Connect with FileZilla

In FileZilla enter your domain as the Host, your FTP username and password, and port 21, then connect.

  5. 5

    Drag your files across

Drop your website files into the public_html folder on the right-hand (server) panel.

Tip: Your website's home page must sit directly inside public_html (e.g. index.html or index.php).
